Not many people write both fiction and non-fiction, but I like doing both, and although I studied history at university, (and continue to do so), my first book was was actually a novel. Battlefield Tours

I’ve been over many battlefields and quite often lead both military tours and take private punters. I’ve shown small parties of half a dozen, led army groups of fifty soldiers, and even school children too. They are always very rewarding and a lot of fun.

Historical Consultancy

I am being increasingly asked to consult on a number of different matters, whether it be new films, new museums, Royal Mail special edition stamps, or television documentaries.

About James

James Holland is a historian, writer, and broadcaster. The author of the best-selling historical novels, he has also written nine works of historical fiction. He regularly appears on television and radio, and has written and presented the BAFTA-shortlisted documentaries. Co-founder and Programme Director of the Chalke Valley History Festival, he has his own collection at the Imperial War Museum, and is Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
