Diary of Writing Italy’s Sorrow

Charleston, South Carolina, March 5, 2006
Took a flight back to Charleston, landing late in the afternoon, then drove to Bill and Marie Pierce’s place.  They kindly offered to put me up once more, and it’s really good to see them.  They had also invited a friend of theirs to supper and we all had a very good evening.  After, we stayed up watching the Oscars, with Bill cursing every time George Clooney appeared.  Bill’s a die-hard Republican and has no time at all for what he calls, ‘lily-livered liberals.’
